Overview
Kalimpong is a vibrant hill town in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, perched at an elevation of 1,247 metres in the foothills of the eastern Himalayas. Once a major trading hub on the ancient Silk Route between India and Tibet, the town retains a cosmopolitan character shaped by Tibetan, Nepali, Lepcha, and British colonial influences.
What to See & Do
The town is famous for its colourful weekly markets (haat bazaar), flower nurseries exporting orchids and gladioli worldwide, and a rich collection of monasteries and churches. The Tenth Mile and Eleventh Mile areas are popular for local food and shopping. Morgan House, a colonial-era bungalow, offers a glimpse into the British past.

Kalimpong is 75 km from Siliguri and well connected by road. The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP), about 80 km away. Bagdogra Airport is the closest air hub, approximately 70 km from the town.
