Kalimpong is a vibrant hill town in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, perched at an elevation of 1,247 metres in the foothills of the eastern Himalayas. Once a major trading hub on the ancient Silk Route between India and Tibet, the town retains a cosmopolitan character shaped by Tibetan, Nepali, Lepcha, and British colonial influences.

The town is famous for its colourful weekly markets (haat bazaar), flower nurseries exporting orchids and gladioli worldwide, and a rich collection of monasteries and churches. The Tenth Mile and Eleventh Mile areas are popular for local food and shopping. Morgan House, a colonial-era bungalow, offers a glimpse into the British past.
