Overview

Lingsey is a village in the Kalimpong hills known for its extensive cardamom cultivation. The village is surrounded by forests where large cardamom plants grow under the shade of alder trees, filling the air with a distinctive spicy fragrance.

Cardamom Culture

Cardamom is the lifeblood of Lingsey, and the entire village economy revolves around its cultivation and trade. Visitors can walk through the cardamom gardens, learn about the cultivation process, and visit the traditional smoking houses where the pods are dried. The harvest season (August–October) is the best time to witness the activity.
