Overview
Samthar is a high-altitude plateau in the Kalimpong hills, offering some of the most spectacular views of the Himalayan range in the entire region. The plateau sits at around 2,000 metres above sea level, and on clear days, the views extend from the Bhutan Himalayas to the Nepal range.

The open plateau of Samthar is a unique landscape in the Kalimpong hills, with rolling grasslands, scattered trees, and sweeping mountain views. The area is excellent for camping, photography, and simply soaking in the grandeur of the Himalayas. Several homestays in the area offer comfortable accommodation with stunning views.
